If you would like to get in touch with the Baildon Methodist Church Minister, here’s a bit more information for you straight from the horses mouth…
Rev Alistair Newton – Superintendent (Baildon)
I grew up in a Christian home in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, and began my local preaching whilst working for a light engineering company. I continued my local preaching studies and tested my calling to the ministry by going to Cliff College in Derbyshire for a year, and have very fond memories of my time there.
I returned to my home town, candidated for the ministry and moved to Queen’s College, Birmingham for my ministerial training.
My first appointment was in Didsbury, Manchester, and from there we moved on to Knaresborough and then Otley, before moving to Baildon in 2007.
My wife, Carol, and I are parents to Sarah who is a teacher, and Tim who is in his final year at university.
Lynne Yarde – Lay Worker
I was brought up in Stokesley, Middlesbrough but lived “down south” for a number of years while studying and working, i then moved back up to the “God’s own Country” in 2000 with my husband Andy, and our 2 young children who go to the local Sandal Primary School.
I started working (during term-time) for Baildon Methodist Church in 2004 in the role of Lay-worker; with a remit to concentrate on Young Childrens Work. In 2009, i also took a part-time cooks role in the Kitchen of Wesleys Cafe.
Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors and like walking, sledging and kite flying, but i am also a home bird and like to sit with my feet up and enjoy a cream egg or two or maybe 3. Friday night is curry night and I don’t mind the odd night out in one of the local hostelry. We have a folding camper which we use for family holidays and enjoy both sun and rain here and abroad while camping…
